Functions marked as optional in the manual will only operate when supported by the indoor unit.

Wi-Fi control

The “C” version incorporates Wi-Fi, allowing the controller to connect to the GREE+ mobile app. The app provides common functions including:

• On/off
• Operating-mode selection
• Temperature adjustment
• Fan-speed control
• Local network and remote internet control

The wireless interface operates on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, with a stated frequency range of 2412–2472 MHz. The non-Wi-Fi XE7C-24/H should not be confused with the XE7C-24/HC.

Scheduling

The controller provides three programmable scheduling arrangements:

• Daily timer: Four independent periods
• Weekly timer: Four periods per day, repeated weekly
• Two-week timer: Four periods per day across alternating Week 1 and Week 2 schedules

Each programmed period can normally include the time, on/off command, operating mode, set temperature and fan speed.

Installation and wiring

• Isolate the indoor unit before installation.
• Use a two-core twisted-pair communication cable.
• Recommended conductor size is generally 2 × 0.75 mm² to 2 × 1.25 mm².
• The controller terminals are non-polarised.
• Maximum total communication-cable length is stated as 250 m, subject to the system topology and indoor-unit installation instructions.
• Do not connect the controller terminals to mains voltage.
• It is also not a conventional 24 V thermostat; the “24” in the model designation does not indicate a 24 VAC thermostat input.
• Keep the communication cable separated from mains and other electrically noisy wiring.
• Pull the two-core cable through the rear mounting plate and secure the controller using the supplied mounting screws.
• Install away from direct sunlight, moisture, condensation, heat sources and strong electromagnetic interference.

Group-control capability

For compatible systems, one XE7C controller can control up to 16 indoor units. Group-controlled units must generally:

• Be compatible with group control
• Be from the same indoor-unit series
• Be connected to the same indoor-unit communication network
• Have the correct group quantity and addressing configured

For large ducted or air-cooled packaged systems, the manual specifies one controller per indoor unit. The XE7C-24/HC is intended for one controller controlling either one indoor unit or an approved group; dual-controller arrangements should not be assumed without checking the specific unit documentation.

Commissioning and diagnostics

The controller provides considerably more service information than the XK76, including access—depending on the system—to:

• Indoor and outdoor temperatures
• Indoor-unit addresses and project numbers
• Indoor-unit capacity
• Electronic expansion-valve position
• Filter operating time
• Compressor frequency
• Compressor discharge temperatures
• Outdoor-fan frequency
• System pressures
• Static-pressure settings
• Current and historical error codes
• Master indoor-unit and group-control parameters

Some engineering parameters are password-protected and should only be adjusted by a qualified technician.

Compatibility note

The XE7C-24/HC is used with selected:

• Gree U-Match commercial ducted systems
• Gree U-Match cassette systems
• Gree VRF indoor units
• Gree large/high-static ducted units
• Braemar KDHA ducted systems manufactured by Gree

Compatibility must be confirmed against the complete indoor-unit model number before ordering. The controller is not interchangeable with a standard thermostat or every earlier Gree wired controller.
